Bridge Street is the widest street in Stratford (it used to have a row of buildings in the centre called Middle Row), at the top of which is an unusual white building with a small turret which is now Barclays’ bank. The Marks and Spencer building was formerly the Red Lion Hotel and has an impressive portico which itself came from another building some years previously!

Home to most of the major retailers in town it also has the main entrance to Old Red Lion Court opposite Marks and Spencers and by Woolworths. This little arcade of stores is build on the site of the original enclosure at the back of the Red Lion Inn.
